CHICAGO BUSINESS JOURNAL WOMEN OF INFLUENCE

Elizabeth Colón Named Woman of Influence

The Chicago Business Journal has selected its second class of honorees for its Women of Influence Awards, and 50 extraordinary women made the cut. Metaphrasis Language & Cultural Solutions founder, Elizabeth Colón, was among the list. The publication was looking for women who have demonstrated a track record of success in their businesses or careers, and who also put a premium on mentoring those around them and supporting the next generation of women in business. We would like to congratulate Elizabeth and encourage you to read about all of the women on this list.

Additionally, Elizabeth sat down to answer 14 questions about what got her here today. If you have ever wondered what makes this savvy business lady tick, read this article. Here is an excerpt:

What was your first job and what did you learn from it? At McDonald’s, and I worked as a cashier. I learned how to treat and greet customers and the importance of providing exceptional service. We were trained to greet the customer with a big welcome and to always smile. The customers always felt welcomed, and we made sure to get their order completed within 90 seconds. This experience taught me how to deal with people. No matter the kind of day I was having, it was important to set it aside and smile. I hold my staff to the same values and it has definitely created a pleasant and fun work environment — not to mention that our clients are happy to hear us on the other end.
