Our legal interpreter training is for bilingual professionals who wish to explore the field of legal interpreting. Learn the fundamentals of interpreting as a profession, including an overview of basic concepts and hands-on introduction to the three modes of interpreting used in the legal field: simultaneous and consecutive interpreting, and sight translation. The course covers legal interpreting, basic knowledge of the legal system, legal terminology, and the interpreter’s role in different legal settings.
Class Session Begins: Tuesday, April 8th, Thursday, April 10th, Saturday, April 12th, Tuesday, April 15th, Thursday, April 17th, Saturday, April 19th, Tuesday, April 22nd, Thursday, April 24th, and Saturday, April 26th
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 PM to 6 PM
Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 5 PM

Who makes the ideal candidate/credentials?
To be a successful legal interpreter, you must be willing to work hard and conduct yourself with confidence in adversarial situations while always maintaining a professional demeanor.
Legal interpreting is both intellectually stimulating and challenging at the same time. A basic understanding of the legal system is recommended, and a desire to work within that system is highly encouraged.
Very high proficiency in your native and second language is required. Ability to read, write and speak at an advanced level in both languages, as well as navigate cross-cultural barriers is essential to being a successful legal interpreter.
