Amended CLAS Standards and Blueprint Now Available

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recently introduced the new and amended National CLAS Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services in Health and Health Care. The National CLAS Standards are “intended to advance health equity, improve quality, and help eliminate health care disparities…” The standards create an effective outline which helps organizations provide “effective, understandable, and respectful services at every point of patient contact”. A Blueprint for Advancing and Sustaining CLAS Policy and Practice (The Blueprint) was also created to help better comprehend the standard’s multiple components and overall purpose and meaning. Both documents are available to view at www.ThinkCulturalhealth.hhs.gov.

We recommend the following video for more information regarding CLAS Standards and personal stories from professionals in the field.
